What is Work Focused Training?

Future Strategies Consulting Ltd (FSC) is working in partnership with local colleges and Job Centre Plus to deliver work focused training across the North East Region.

FSC’s Work Focused Training programmes are all about giving unemployed learners job specific skills and knowledge to help enhance their prospects and find a route back into employment.

Who is it for?

The training is available for individuals who:

• Are over the age of 18.
• Are unemployed.

FSC can also offer Response to Redundancy Training. This covers the same training as offered under Work Focused Training Programmes. It is available to those aged 18 and over, under consultation of redundancy, under notice of redundancy, those made recently redundant or those that are unemployed who could be made ready for work. The training provides candidates with the high quality training and education support that they need to enable them to either continue in, or enter or re-enter employment and contribute positively to the local labour market.

How does it work?

FSC’s Work Focused Training programme is designed to give learners an in-depth introduction to their chosen employment sector. All programmes have been created with employers using industry standards to develop a programme that will not only place you in an ideal position to gain employment and prepare you for your role, but also significantly benefit the business.

The duration of the training is 75 hours over two weeks. During this training, you will develop new skills, competencies and complete elements of mandatory training required for your chosen sector.

Training and support is delivered by FSC’s subject specialists who have experience of working in your chosen sector and can provide you with sector specialist skills as well as guidance on entering employment including:

• Job specific and practical skills.
• CV building.
• Searching for employment.
• Interview research and preparation.
• Interview techniques.
• Understanding and keeping a job.

Once the Work Focused Training programme is fully complete, learners are presented with an FSC Portfolio of Achievement containing accredited certificates and records of the training that they have completed.

• Customer Service.
• Health and Social Care.
• Information Technology (End User).
• Retail.

How much does it cost?

Work Focused Training is fully subsidised and it will not affect your Job Seekers’ Allowance.

How can I progress?

Once you have completed the job specific training, FSC will guarantee you an interview and support you in applying for vacancies and securing you an interview.

If you are successful at interview, not only will you gain employment, but you will also have the opportunity to progress on to one of FSC’s NVQ programmes.
